SNAIL has announced that it will officially release the IW4 & LCR packages, with more power and a higher SPL. A single IW4 handles 200 W continuous, and the SPL rises from 87 dB on the IW3 to 89 dB. The waveguide area and its vanes are larger and more rounded, and the waveguide reaches farther, up to 6-7 meters, making it better suited to large living rooms and medium-sized custom cinemas.

Since SNAIL launched the IW3 & IW3LCR 5.1 system package in 2018, it has been the first choice for new cinemas and smart homes, thanks to waveguide invisible technology that lets you hear the sound without seeing the speaker, and high-quality performance for both music and movies at up to 160 W per unit. In less than two years it became a bestseller. The IW4 released today spans packages from RMB 30,000 to RMB 60,000, a clear all-round step up in performance and efficiency, though the larger outer diameter comes at a price: 10 CM becomes 12 CM, and a single radiating cone becomes a larger dual radiating cone.

According to the company, the biggest difference in the new packages is that the IW3 is a 5.1 system and can only ship as a PACK with the S10B, while the IW4 is a 7.1 system that can be paired with the American JL D110 1000 W subwoofer, or with the top package, the American JL E112 1500 W. It suits a 40 m² large living room (without acoustic treatment) and a professional custom cinema of around 25 m², with an average SPL of up to 110 dB.

A single unit also works for specific projection setups. The adjustable waveguide of the IW4 LCR points the sound exactly where you want it, so hitting the sweet spot is easy, while the standard IW4 reaches a ceiling-mounted low end down to 50 HZ, and gives nothing away in high-quality background music applications.
